Father Saturnino said, "One of the favours that the Lord has granted me is to have inspired me with the thought of writing some works and helped me with his divine help to do so, which can give some glory to God our Lord and contribute to the sanctification of souls, the only object I have set myself in writing them". And we can see from the study of his works that, indeed, the objective was achieved in an outstanding manner.
Among his writings, his facet as a historian also stands out. In the summer of 1861, his work "Historia de la Ciudad y Diócesis de Barbastro" (History of the City and Diocese of Barbastro) was published in two volumes. As a result of this, on 26th January 1866 he was appointed member of the Royal Academy of History.
